***Between August 2007 and June 30, 2011, Operation Sauce Drop shipped over 1,100
free gift boxes of barbecue sauce and hot sauce to U.S. military personnel stationed abroad, including
troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Kuwait, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Great Britain and other
APO/FPO addresses around the world. Below are some of the thank-you notes to our donors and photos that
our troops have sent in response to this nonprofit program. Unfortunately, we had to discontinue this
popular program when we shut down our warehouse in 2011.***
- The
following note was sent by the soldier in the photo on the right:
"Thank you for the box of fabulous sauces. The guys and I are using them on the meats we grill on our patio.
We appreciate your gift and thank you for your support. It is my honor to serve you, by serving in the U.S.
Army." --SFC C.B., serving in Afghanistan
- "I and the wife are very interested in Operation Sauce
Drop, it's such a relevant cause. Most people have no concept, couldn't fathom the significance of a
simple bottle of hot sauce on a service member's morale. Thanks for what you're doing!" --M.K., Marines, Operation Sauce Drop supporter
- "I wanted to take a minute and thank you for donating
your time, money and efforts to send me a box full of sauces. It’s a true testament to America when her
citizens support the troops defending our great country. I have spread the word about your kindness
throughout my work, family and friends. I really appreciate your gift and can’t wait to dig in! One thing
you can’t get out here is GOOD WINGS! Thanks again for support." --LCDR A.B., Navy, stationed in Egypt
- "Please allow me to say how thankful I am to receive a
care package today with a little reminder of home. Being over here there are little things you miss, and
something as great as your hot sauce will give me a little piece of home at each meal. I am truly grateful
and again thank you for thinking about a deployed soldier." --TSgt. M.W., Air Force, serving in Afghanistan
- The
following note was sent by one of the soldiers in the photo on the left:
"I am MSgt M. P., and am currently stationed at Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan. I am the first sergeant for the
largest active duty squadron in the world, over 1000 strong and are spread out all over Afghanistan. My job
is to travel to many of these places to see the airmen, watch over their quality of life, and ensure they
have everything they need to do their job. Companies like this offer a huge benefit to the soldiers,
sailors, airmen and marines by helping to improve and/or maintain their quality of life by providing them
with a taste of home. I also happen to be a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. I would very much
appreciate being able to demonstrate to my airmen who come from all over the world exactly what great BBQ
taste like.... I look very forward to these guys seeing how great Carolina BBQ is. It's something I grew
up with and always looked forward to. I joined the AF in the late 80s and have been stationed overseas for
all but two years of that time. So I have truly missed the great Carolina BBQ. Thank you very much for
everything you do. I greatly appreciate it, and it means the world to me.... Here is a pic of my staff and
our iron horses. I'm the guy in the back on your right with the band on my helmet." --MSgt. M.P., serving in Afghanistan
- "Regarding Operation Sauce Drop, I am thankful that the
Carolina Sauce Company continues to support our troops through this program. Although my own military
service (U.S. Army - Infantry - MOS 11B "eleven bravo") was long ago (1973 - 1977) and not in a war zone
(2 years in the states/2 years in Germany), I know the recipients of your care packages greatly enjoy both
the quality of the products that you send and the fact that it shows that they are remembered and
appreciated back home. My contributions to this program are nothing compared to the sacrifices being made
by these great men and women, as they are separated from family and friends, while being in harms way 24/7.
I only wish I was able to do more for them." --R.F., Ret. US Army & Operation Sauce Drop donor
- "God Bless all of you for what you are doing for our
brave soldiers." --Army mom
- The
following note was sent by the soldier in the photo on the right:
"Please thank everyone involved in sending me the sauce gift box. We plan to enjoy them when we have chicken
fingers, which is usually once a week. I want you to know the soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen I work
with truly appreciate everything the Carolina Sauce Company is doing for the troops. Most of my guys rarely
receive care packages of any kind, so anytime I receive gifts or packages I ensure they are the first to
help empty the contents. Attached is a picture of me with the sauces, please continue your efforts in
supporting the troops." --H.H., U.S. Army, serving in Afghanistan
- "Thanks for doing this for our soldiers!! Any little
'taste' of home helps!" --M.H., military wife
- "Thank you for supporting the Troops while we are
deployed!! This is going to be great!" --A.L.B., OMC/OPS, deployed gift box recipient
- The
following note was sent by the soldier in the photo on the left:
"Your BBQ Pork Sauce was so good, I almost drank it all. Ha ha. Thank you so much. I included a picture
of me with your sauce and the local interpreters. The sauce goes great with potato chips. Mmmm, Mmmm, GOOD!!"
--J.H., U.S. Army, serving in Afghanistan
- "Thank you Very much for your support of us. Is nice
to have a little piece of home way out here." --J.S., U.S. Army, serving in Afghanistan
- "Thank you for blessing our son." --the Kinders,
military parents whose son is serving in Iraq
- The
following note and photos were sent by the serviceman in the photo on the right:
"Attached are a few pictures of your Carolina Sauce on the flight deck of the USS Harry S. Truman during
our recent deployment. I had to take the pics before we started eating, because the sauce went by faster
than you can imagine. Thank you so much for the generous gift, it definitely helped make the 'boat food'
more enjoyable. You earned a fan of your sauces and a future customer!! All my best," --T.V.D., U.S. Navy
- The
following note was sent by the wife of the happy sailor in the photo on the left:
"Attached you will find a photo of my happy Asheboro, North Carolina born and raised Sailor, MN1(SW) Lane B.
We received the sauces and they were a big hit.... We will be ordering more prior to his ship deploying for
6 months. We are currently stationed in Sasebo, Japan aboard the USS PATRIOT (MCM-7). Thank you very much!"
--Lori B., Navy wife
- The
following letter was sent with the photo on the right:
"On behalf of the 948th Movement Control Team, we would like to thank you for supporting our Soldiers who are
deployed in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. Your support is integral in boosting unit morale. By
sending different flavored sauces to our Soldiers, you brought smiles to the faces of young people who are
away from the normal comforts of everyday life in the United States. As a result of your generosity, these
Soldiers feel that people back home care about them and their mission. There is a picture enclosed so you can
see the Soldiers who you donated sauces to. It is remarkable that your group is taking the time to send sauces
to our unit and other units. Your generosity and time is greatly appreciated. Our unit is planning on having
a barbeque within the next week. We are looking forward to using the sauces. Thank you once again for everything
you do!" --J.M.T., 1LT, QM, U.S. Army
- The
following note was sent by one of the servicemembers in the photos on the left:
"I'm a Platoon Sergeant in the Field artillery currently serving in Afghanistan at Forward Operating Base
Tillman. I was recently introduced to some of your incredible products through a care package one of my
Soldiers received. One of the things guys miss most about home is food with taste; and believe me when I
say the food around here can be pretty bland without a little help in the seasoning department.
My platoon has been pleased by the few products we have had the luxury of trying and can only hope for more....
We are so very thankful for everything you and yours do for the troops and more specifically what you are
doing for us. I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year." --M.C., U.S. Army, serving in Afghanistan
- The
following note was sent with the photo on the right:
"About two months ago, I was sent a box with 4 different kinds of your barbeque sauces. I have been on
deployment with the USS Truman for the past 6 months so the food can get pretty bland. I must say, your
barbeque sauce really helped in raising morale for a lot of us! These sauces were sent free of charge....
Thank you very much for all your support!" --J.B., U.S. Navy
- The
following note was sent by the servicemembers in the photo on the left:
"On behalf of the United States Forces-Afghanistan J4,
I would like to extend my gratitude at your generous donation of Carolina Sauce for the cause supporting our
servicemembers at war here in the region. I cannot adequately express in words the appreciation our servicemembers
have for the generous donation you graciously provided for them. To say that it was definitely a morale booster
for the section is an understatement. However, you have done far more with this donation for our troops than provide
them the temporary comfort of a little slice of home. You have, in fact, helped reassure our servicemembers
that their countrymen remain behind them in their enduring efforts to bring freedom and peace to a war-torn
region. With the belief that thoughtful support from donors like you provide to inspire us, we are sure that
we will achieve all our aims. I once again thank you for the selfless interest that you have shown in our cause
and hope that this alliance of Patriots continues further. Sincerely, The Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines
of USFOR-A J4 in Kabul, Afghanistan"
- "I wish to thank you for the care package that I received
from your organization and for your supporting our troops in the Middle East. Unexpected care packages provide
an essential morale boost for all Soldiers. Additionally, it's nice to have something a little different to
put on the food in the DFAC from time to time. Work piles up fast and personal business is quickly buried, I
apologize for the delay in a response. Your package was well-received and shared with the Soldiers in my section.
Thank you again for your package. Sincerely," --2LT J.A.M., serving in Afghanistan
- The
following note was sent by the serviceman in the photo on the right:
"I received the sauce in the mail today! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was to share it with
the other soldiers. The food here is void of flavor so when I shared the sauce it was like Christmas dinner!
It's awesome and we love it! Thank you so much!" --A. Wooley, Bravo Company
- "Thanks so much for the sauces! We received the order
last night and were so excited! Next time we have wings or a BBQ I will take some photos and send it to
you. Thanks so much for everything you do for troops overseas!" --SPC Frank N. & FOB Dagger
- "Thank you for the salsa. I thoroughly enjoyed your
company's [Pepper Dog] salsa. I really appreciated the taste of home that you sent me." --SFC J.M.Z.,
serving in Afghanistan
- The
following note was sent by the serviceman holding the box of sauces in the photo on the left: "Thanks for your support during our current deployment. Because we are a small 10 man team
we don't receive as much support as the larger units. The hot sauce was great and strictly FIRE.
The aftermath was nearly a medical emergency(LOL). Again thanks for your support, you can count
on our business upon our return to the Great USA." --MSG J.S.
- "I want to thank Carolina Sauce for the gift box that I received recently. I still have months
to go here in Afghanistan, but through the generosity of Carolina Sauce, and it's customers, the
remaining deployment will be a lot more palatable. In the spirit of "paying it forward" , I have
donated to Operation Sauce Drop so that other service members can enjoy your wonderful products.
Thanks again Carolina Sauce." --SFC Gary, serving in Afghanistan
- The
following note was sent by one of the servicemen in the photos on the right: My
name Is SSgt K.K. and I am in charge of the MWR (morale welfare and recreation) for
RED HORSE here at Tarin Kowt. I would first like to apologize that this took so long to get
back to you we have been VERY busy with multiple projects going on at once here on base. We
appreciate everything you have done for us and with what was sent, we were finally able to pull
off a pizza party/BBQ and have multiple snacks to choose from (first time in over 4 months).
The pizza turned out better then we all expected (with your sauce included of course) and were
excited to have such a home feeling with our favorite food. Thank you for the packages,
it really does make a world of difference to us." --SSgt K.K., serving in Afghanistan
- "It's been several months now, and I cann't believe I've waited this long to do this, but I wanted
to thank you again for the 'care package' of hot sauce you sent to me while I was in Iraq. I left
Iraq around mid-October, spent a couple weeks in Kuwait, then took a 34 day boat trip around
Africa all the way to Philadelphia. I'm back at my home station of Fort Drum, NY (about an
hour north of Syracuse if you need a reference).... Thank you again, and I hope Operation Sauce
Drop is being supported and in full swing!" --S.W., US Army
- The
following note was sent by one of the servicemen in the photo on the right: "Enclosed

sauce. We wanted to say thank you for your generosity and we look forward
to using your sauces. Again, thanks, and thanks for keeping it saucy!" --ETC(SW/AW) P.F.F.
- "Thank you for the sauce. God Bless You, Michael. Ga 2:20. P.S.: I used to live in NC!" --M.S.,

support." --Chaplain (1LT) D.W., serving in Kuwait
- "I just received your Anchor Bar Wing Sauce
Gift Box. I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to send that to me." --MSgt J.C.A., deployed Marine
- "I received the order [NC Gift Box].. WOW!
The Thomas Sauce was my favorite. The Habanero Reserve is next on the list and most likely will
take it to the Dining Facility tonight to try it on some chicken wings! The one thought I had while
eating the hamburger with Thomas Sauce (yes I put it on a Cheeseburger) was how come I had ever
deprived my tastebuds of that fantastic taste! A1 and Heinz are not even in the same class.. and I
say this without trying it on a steak. My new "fun" thing to do and help pass the time is to try
new meats at the chow hall to try the sauces on! Thank you again so much!" --C.G.H., serving in Iraq
- "I just wanted to send a quick note and thank
you for the Operation Sauce Drop Program. As a military spouse whose husband is currently serving a
year long deployment to Iraq, one of the issues I find the hardest is packages for him. Receiving
mail is such an important part of morale for the soldiers serving overseas. As the sender, I find it
very difficult to think of things to stick in the box to my husband and there is also a big expense
involved in the postage alone. Due to your program, my husband will be getting an extra package
this year that required no thinking, driving to the post office, or any expense for me. He will be
reassured that the work they are doing there is appreciated by strangers at home. I pray that you
will be blessed by your generosity. Thank you for you support and dedication to our troops." --K.B., Military Wife
- "I received the package [No Survivors Gift Box]
that you sent on 27 August, and I want to thank you for being so generous! Coincidentally, I am a
big fan of hot sauces like Dave’s Insanity! Two friends of mine had tried the other 3 before, and
agreed that they were HOT! Your gift came JUST in time! I have a little over a month left in country,
then it’s off to Kuwait for 24-48 hours, and then back to upstate NY where we are all stationed. So
you can imagine that we are starting to pack things up, and ready to greet the arriving unit! Thank
you again so very much!" --SFC S.W., stationed in Iraq
- "Thank you so much for your gift. It arrived
yesterday. It comes at a great time when we are truly missing home (NC). Thank you so much for
supporting the military." --C.R., serving in the Pacific
- "I just wanted to let you know the box of hot
sauce arrived safely and on Valentine's Day [2009], no less! Great timing, huh? Here is the email I
got from Nicholas this morning: 'I got some hot sauces in the mail today Lol did you get me some?
They said there was no charge, but it had your email on it… lol habenero? :D that’s gonna be some
spicy meatballs… Thank you mom J.' That boy loves his hot sauce. I told him that Habanero is
Spanish for "you laugh while my hair is on fire" so that one should be a good one. Thank you again
for going to so much effort to send the box to him. He loves getting mail and he needed to be
cheered up a little. One of his friends was lost at sea during a training accident on February 4th
[2009]. This was the first email since that happened in which he sounded like he was feeling better.
Your company is doing a really nice thing by sending hot sauce to the military. They need our
support more that you can imagine. Thanks again" --T.H., Military Mom
- "My husband was sent some of your wonderful
sauces! Thank you for all of your support. The sauces are wonderful!!!! Thank you again!" --L.T., Military Wife
- The following note was sent by one of the servicemen in the
photo on the right: "This is just a note to thank you for the
barbeque sauce you sent us over here in Iraq. I've included a photo of some of the folks I work
with at the 926th Engineer Brigade out of Montgomery, Alabama. We're currently on a tour in Baghdad,
and really appreciate a chance to cook out and get something a little different than the usual chow.
Thanks very much for your patriotism, support, and most especially your sauce!" --MAJ T.B., Camp Liberty, Iraq
- The following note was sent by the serviceman in the
photo on the left: "Wanted to let you know that we received the
sauces, and the guys love them. It's good to know that there are still good Americans out there.
Attached is a picture of me with the sauces just before leaving for an op. We were after one guy,
but managed to nab him and one associate after chasing them through palm groves and flooded farm
fields in the middle of the night. You can tell your donors that we credit the successful capture
to your product. It had the boys fired up. Thanks again for your support as it means more than you
know." --SFC D.M., 10th Special Forces Group, Task Force Raptor, Iraq
- The following thank-you email to our donors was sent by
the serviceman in the photo on the right: "Got your Scorned Woman
Gift Box the other day. I was quite surprised by it. I don't know how I came to be the recipient of

Lions…a Marine Helicopter unit based out of Kaneohe Bay, HI. We are currently close to finishing
our 6 month deployment in Al Asad. Attached is a picture of myself (in the middle), Mike on my
right, and Joe (the Tarheels alum) on my left featuring your sauce. Hope you enjoy. Go Heels!"
--Dan R.B., LT, MC, USN Flight Surgeon
- "I just want to say thank you for your Operation Sauce Drop. I had to get
permission from my soldier first to share his address and he is very excited. I actually have three
adopted soldiers and one adopted marine. Hot sauce is one of the most requested items among the men
and women and what you are doing is wonderful. I am always trying to reach out to companies for them
to donate just the smallest things and most do not give good responses so I am very grateful for your
website. Even things like hot sauce and BBQ sauce give them a little taste of home. Thanks again!"
--D.C. of www.soldiersangels.com
- The following note was sent with the two photos on the
right: "I took some quick pictures of your sauce with my sniper
rifle. I also took a picture of one of my team mates using your wonderful sauce. More to come once
I do something cool." In a second note, he wrote:
"The Zing [Sauce] is all gone and your sauces totally spice up the food here (which is good but
monotonous). Thank you so much again." --P.P., serving in Iraq

means to get a small "taste" of home when serving overseas. I believe that I need to be the one
saying "thank you", because what you guys are doing is a very generous and caring thing. Since I
was one of the ones stationed in Iraq and away from home for so long, I know first hand that what
you guys are doing is much appreciated and really does mean alot more to troops over there than most

sauces. My unit here has a BBQ at least once a week and those sauces went fast. So I just wanted

have a little bit of sauce. So I will get someone to take a picture with one in there hand or
something. I just wanted to send a thank you letter saying that we appreciate all the support."
